GNOM3 by hadret GNOM3 by hadret
I was resisting and I was persistent in my resistance. But one day I decided to give GNOME 3 a try and since then, I'm using it on daily basis. It looks good (enough) and, most importantly, it doesn't get in the way, which means, it gives me everything I need to do my job. Empathy integration is wonderful same as Shell extensions. Depending on what you need, GNOME 3 can really be a great DE (:

GNOME 3.4.2 @ Debian Sid

Gtk: Elementary by *DanRabbit
Metacity: Elementary by *DanRabbit
Icons: Elementary by *DanRabbit
Shell: Elementary Luna Mod by ~half-left
Wall: Cup of Tea by ~ecKKKo

Software not visible on shot, but which enhances my GNOME 3 experience: parcellite (for clipboard) and Kupfer (for launching stuff faster).

Shell extensions from left to right: Gmail Notify, All-in-one Places, Transmission Daemon Indicator (currently configured for showing remote torrents ;)), Connection Manager (for quick SSH access to multiple servers).

Thanks. It took a while, cause I was also changing machines (hence screenshot is no longer 1680x1050 but 1024x600 instead) and for the most part, there was nothing to show, as it was default (no customization whatsoever) Adwaita theme (:

There is not much to customize in GNOME3 (not really).
I was so frustrated that I switched complete to KDE,
now without crappy plasma.

Your wallpaper with the panel looks very nice.
Adwaita is a solid but boring theme... but looks good
in your shot.

Hm, I agree and disagree at the same time ;) There was a time, when I was frustrated too, but am also way too much used to Gtk-based apps, so I was using Xfce (and I still consider switching to it, although I'm too lazy and have too many other things to do). Now, two releases later, GNOME 3.4.x is pretty mature and there is much more custom themes, icons and shells to choose from -- it was a real problem, when GNOME 3.0.x was released. So, basically, you are able to change icons, Gtk themes, window borders and shell themes -- but I get the point, that this is pretty much nothing in comparison to things you can change in KDE (or Xfce if that matters). That's why I think GNOME is directed to rather lazy people, who want to change their wallpaper and just *do* the damn thing they need to do (:

BTW on my shot it's Elementary theme, that's why "Adwaita" looks different (personally I really like Adwaita) (:

Yeah, that's right. I love it to configure each pixel on my desktop.
My desktop is like a toy for me. ;)

Ah okay, I haven't tried Elementary in GNOME3. However it looks good in your scrot. :)
